Arrival & Check in Information – Julian Markham House

 

When you first arrive

There will be a few things that we will need to do before you move into your room:

 

w         We’ll need to check that you have a confirmation letter for your booking as sent by the Housing Services, University Of The Arts

w         You will be given a fire safety briefing and an overview of relevant safety features of the building

w         We will issue your keys and take you through the security details and show you to your room

 

Flat/room Inventory and Check in Inspection Record

Within the Welcome Guide you will find an inventory of items for your flat/room. Please check that all of the items listed in the inventory are present. Should any items listed not be present, please contact a member of the Hospitality Team within 48 hours of receiving your keys.

 

Within the Welcome Guide you will also find an Inspection Record. We will have inspected your room to ensure that it is in good and tenantable condition and any comments, where applicable, will be noted on your Check-In Inspection Record. Should you have any additional comments on the condition of your room, please enter these in the ‘customer comments’ box on the Inspection Record form and return to your Hospitality Team within 48 hours.

 

Check in times

The check in times for Julian Markham House are:

         w The Big Move-In weekends - Sunday 2^nd September & Sunday 16^th September from 10am till 5pm

         w Or, Monday to Friday (following the start date of your Tenancy Agreement) check in any time, we operate 24/7.

 

As you can imagine, the Move in weekend can get quite busy – so we will need you to be patient with us if there’s a queue.  We tend to get busy around lunchtime so earlier mornings are generally quieter.

Parking

There are limited parking spaces available for unloading for 30-minute slots at Julian Markham House.

Please ask for access to car park at Reception at Julian Markham House on the day of your arrival.

Saxon contents insurance

 

As part of your tenancy with University Of The Arts London, you also get CORE contents insurance for your possessions with Saxon Insurance.  We strongly recommend that you read the full policy wording, a copy of which is available to view and download at: www.cover4students.com/blockhalls to review that all your possessions are adequately insured. You will be able to insure any additional items such as laptops or bicycles, which are not covered by your core policy, and obtain your insurance certificate.

Q & A

 

What items are included and what do I need to bring?

Cluster flat

Kitchens: If you will be living in one of our cluster flat rooms you will have a shared kitchen which will include fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board. 

 

Bedroom: Your bed will be provided.  The size of the bed in your room is single.

You will need to bring your own bed linen and towels along with any toiletries you require.

There will also be share laundry facilities in the building so all you will need is your washing detergent and change for the machine!

How to get to Julian Markham House

 

 

Arriving by car?

If you are using a Sat Nav system, use the postcode: SE17 1JL. Julian Markham House is situated on 114 Walworth Road, Elephant & Castle. Walworth Road is designated the A215, which meets Old Kent Road at the Elephant& Castle roundabout. From the roundabout by car follow signs for Camberwell and the road coming off the roundabout is Walworth Road (JMH is the blue building on the right hand side going southbound).

Arriving by train?

The nearest tube station to Julian Markham House is Elephant & Castle. Take underground (Bakerloo line or Northern line

going southbound). When exiting the station please note there are 2 exits. You should take the exit displaying ‘Shopping Centre’. Once you exit the underground, turn left along the road, keep left until you are on Walworth Road, Julian Markham House is the blue building on the right hand side.

Arriving by coach?

If you are planning your journey by coach (National Express) make sure you arrive at London Victoria Station, which should be your final stop. From Victoria Station take Victoria line (tube) and make a connection to the Bakerloo line travelling southbound to Elephant & Castle.

 

Arriving by plane?
